Joined Jul 26, Threads 10 Messages Is the Honda GCV reliable? Does it have a real carburetor on it, or is it a Governor-Spring carb like on lots of the Briggs and Stratton engines? Any info would be appreciated.

Just at about hours on it, starts first pull after 4 years and has never given me any issues. I do change the oil in it every 25 hours and use 10w synthetic I know it's overkill, but I run mobil 1 in all of my stuff.

Well that is good. I am buying a Husqvarna mower and wanted to know if these Honda's were reliable. After reading reviews and threads, The Honda motors are reliable. The Briggs and Strattons now a days aren't so reliable as they use to. With all these new EPA rules and state regulations, they set the motors to run so lean they run like crap. Some are non-adjustable.Specifically designed for home-use power equipment applications, the GC provides an ideal source of power for a variety of consumer products.

Net horsepower more closely correlates with the power the operator will experience when using a Honda engine powered product. The power rating of the engines indicated in this document measures the net power output at rpm rpm for model GXH50, GXV50, GX25 and GX35 and net torque at rpm, as tested on a production engine.

Mass production engines may vary from this value. Actual power output for the engine installed in the final machine will vary depending on numerous factors, including the operation speed of the engine in application, environmental conditions, maintenance and other variables.

For more information go to www. The engine starts easily whether cold or hot and is ready to use immediately. Once the engine is up and running, the Auto Choke automatically returns to an optimal operating position.

This system, which is connected to the camshaft, reduces compression by opening the exhaust valve slightly when the engine is being started. This reduces the amount of force needed to start the engine and improves starting performance. The system disengages automatically after the engine starts to prevent any power loss during normal operation.

Its lighter piston and other moving parts help keep vibration to a comfortable level. It enables a variety of complicated electronic controls to be linked to improve operability. A truly innovative combination of a compact combustion chamber, overhead cam configuration and uniblock construction significantly reduces fuel and oil consumption as compared to conventional side-valve engines.

Plus, simple construction has minimized the number of parts, making the engine more reliable and easier to operate. New V-shaped valves and a pent-roof combustion chamber enable air in cylinder to flow more smoothly and maximizes the mixing of fuel.

The longer stroke design also enhances turbulence in the cylinder, helping the mixture of air and fuel. Drive-By-Wire unlike conventional models, has no throttle cable. An ECU controls a throttle motor via an electrical signal.

Ideal throttle control is possible, from conventional type user-operated throttle control, to a variety of automatic control by the ECU.

Electronic Fuel Injection EFIwhich detects the state of the engine using sensors supplies the optimum amount of fuel to the engine according to its working conditions. EFI Improves fuel economy, reduces exhaust gas, and achieves excellent usability and easy maintenance. Electronic Fuel Injection eliminates the need for a manual choke, making starting simple. In addition, starting is improved as the fuel is sealed within the injector and fuel hose reducing fuel deterioration, and making smooth engine startup possible even after long-term storage.

The electronic governor minimizes governor droop. This increases available power. For most normal engines, available power is decreased when the engine is approaching wide open throttle.

Engine diagnosis utilizes Dr. The new integrated Fuel-Off position on the engine control allows the user to stop the flow of fuel to the engine when pressure washing is complete. How does it work - With the engine running and the switch placed in the Fuel-Off position, the fuel flow to the carburetor is stopped. The engine will continue to run until the majority of fuel remaining in the carburetor is consumed and the engine shuts down.

Using the Fuel Off feature when shutting your pressure washer down helps prevent sticky carburetor buildup which makes for cleaner storage and easier future starting. Upright, sideways, even upside down — the Mini 4-Strokes will still run great. An exclusive Honda rotary-slinger lubrication system keeps oil in a completely misted state and circulates it using pressure fluctuations generated by the movement of the piston.

Built-in passages effectively return the circulated oil to the oil reservoir from every part of the engine. An oil return port positioned in the center of the reservoir prevents oil from accidentally flowing into the combustion chamber. This substantially reduces both oil consumption and the emission of unburned oil in the exhaust. The results include better all-around environmental performance and operating costs that actually decrease the more the engine is used!I'm looking at purchasing a new lawn mower.

It's narrowed down to Honda and Toro mowers at this point. My questions: What is the difference between these two model engines and how will it affect my mowing? Should the availabilty of either of these two model engines affect my decision?

My current mower is a 12 year old Honda with dying transmission syndrome. In addition, the engine is developing some issues. Got one, love it.

Is any other manufacturer using this engine yet? I got mine on the discontinued Lawn-Boy commercial. Big crank, ball-bearing mains, iron sleeve, OHC with cast alloy cover - this is the big daddy rabbit. It has been boringly reliable, and the mower is great. Probably the best Lawn-Boy of all time - heresy, I know, but true. Otherwise exactly the same engine. Honda put the GCV on their top end consumer mowers with the dual blade mulching.

I wouldn't let it make a difference in mower selection. Now, if you could get a GSV, that would be a different story Hey, I'm glad it's on there - I really wouldn't want to hit something and crack the cast cam cover. Those pictures were before the first use - it doesn't look that good anymore, but is overdue for a good cleanup and service.

I'll get around to it sometime this fall. I also have a steel 'Insight' with Tecumseh that's a heck of a mower, and it needs the same attention. I'am the Same with my Equipment also Bro! I need someone to tell Me about their experiences with the carborator on this mower. What changes the gas amount to the engine. Mine has gas dripping out of the carborator flooding. The screw in the middle of the carborator after the bowl is removed.

Does that adjust the flow of gas to the engine? This one's pretty played out. It was good but when the grass was wet or got a bit too long, then it was very taxing for the CC. It is a day and night in terms of power and quietness.

I was able to cut wet and long grass without any issues. MN spring can be wet and warm so grass can get tall quick so a CC is not powerfull enough. They are both good engines but CC is a better choice. After looking at this I always recommend the one with the blade brake. Reason is it has a heavier flywheel.

Related Read: 5 Tips in Monetizing Native AdsAs the publishers and advertisers start to open their eyes to the great initial results of native advertising, so will new incumbents.

New native advertising networks will flood the market with high promises and low value offerings looking for flash-in-the-pan profits. This will accelerate if a big player like Google, Microsoft or Yahoo buys a native ad network.

As with any new market, it will cut its own fat over time and the flash-in-the-pan native ad networks will die off and the top native ad networks that actually create value in the market will innovate and dominate. Right now targeting is quite rudimentary and not too much innovation has been put into the native ad creatives.

There will be a lot more spammy native ad networks popping up than value-add native ad networks. Be wary of which networks you choose to run your native ad campaigns with.

Even the publishers that use DFP premium have no clue about it or how to use the features. Google made a great step to include it in the DFP Publisher University.

The first party data management tools are only available for DFP Premium and not DFP Small Business. Over time, the Ad Exchanges and RTBs will simplify the custom RTB setups for publishers.

Currently, most of the providers offer long setups requiring a decent level of developer resources to learn and implement correctly.

The setups can be fairly complex on the DFP end as well when going through for the first time. These setups will be become more automated, the instructions will improve (ie. Later in 2015 aggregated custom RTBs should come into the picture as well, even though most current custom RTBs claim to target the most exchanges and DSPs under the moon. This will be improved by Google. Setting up video ads via DFP Small Business is possible, but very cumbersome. Including video ad setup in Publisher University was a great step towards this.
